The WA Marblehead fleet continues to grow with the launch of another Red Ant F6.
There was one bloke walking around with his chest out and a smile that you couldn't wipe of his face as he launched is brand new Red Ant F6 Marblehead at Maylands on 20 June.
After what seemed to be one of the 'longest builds' ever, for Glenn Dawson the day finally came for the launch of his new boat. While working through a few 'little' issues in the early part of the day it wasn't long until the first race win came, followed by the next and then another after that and you could sense that for Glenn the hard work had paid off.
The boat showed good speed in the light conditions and while sluggish to start at the end of the day Glenn finished just one point off the lead to finish 2nd overall.
Glenn's boat is the second in a row of four boats coming to Perth from Red Ant Radio Yachts in Melbourne and with this the class in WA is going from strength to strength.
The growth of the class has seen racing calendars across two clubs amended to offer sailing of the class on alternate weeks with Saturday (fortnightly) at Maylands and Sunday (on the alternate fortnight) at Champion Lakes.
With the first major M event (since the resumption of sailing post COVID) being the SA Marblehead State Championship on 12/13 September our M sailors are getting in some much needed practice before a team of up to six will venture across the border to contest the title.
