With the focus firmly on the competitors over the next week or so, we should take this opportunity to shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes of these World Championships. People like Max Hunter who has come to Gladstone to be a part of the Championships. Max found himself measuring battery packs, fin weights and boat weights.
Western Australia is powering the IOM Worlds measurement and registration team. Putting their hands up to join the team to make the measurement process a breeze are volunteers from WA: Andree Bennett, Roger Paul, Guy Burton, Graeme Howie and Max Hunter.
Andree is on the registration side of the process. Roger is acting as 2IC of the Technical Committee and Guy, Graeme and Max are manning the measurement stations.
The whole process is running like clockwork thanks to the planning and guidance of one of our ex-WA skippers Andrew Crocker, ably assisted by Yoda (Dave Thomas). Andrew's wife Lisa is in the team as well, adding to the WA / ex-WA flavour of the group.
We would like to acknowledge efforts like these, and are very grateful for everyone giving up their time and energy to make the process happen. A huge thank you guys.
