Western Australians Set Sail for 2026 National Championships

Western Australian sailors will travel east in the coming weeks to compete in the Australian Championships for the Marblehead, Ten Rater, DF65 and DF95 classes, with events scheduled in Queensland and New South Wales.

natsThe Marblehead and Ten Rater Australian Championships will be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland from 28 February to 7 March, where Roger Paul will represent Western Australia in both classes. These development classes attract sailors from across the country and are regarded as two of the premier classes in Australian radio sailing.

Later in March, attention turns to Grahamstown Dam, New South Wales, which will host the DF65 and DF95 Australian Championships from 21 to 28 March. Western Australia will be represented by Andrew Donkin, Garry Goodall, Nick Jerwood, Janet Jerwood and Bruce Robins, all competing in both classes.

Nick Jerwood enters the regatta as the defending Australian Champion in both the DF65 and DF95 classes, and will be looking to defend the titles he won at the previous championships.

They will be joined by Mark Lovelady in the DF65, and Kim Klaka and Annette O’Mahoney in the DF95, completing the Western Australian contingent.

The DF65 and DF95 classes regularly attract large fleets at national level, with close racing throughout the championship series.

The Western Australian radio sailing community wishes all competitors safe travel and an enjoyable championship.
