Austin Lakes Interclub Regatta - 15 October 2022

Austin Lakes turned on the sunshine and a steady west south wester for most of today.

As usual there were tree effects and the odd gust from nowhere but the course selected was suited for most of the afternoon.

There were 16 skippers that came down and raced which was an awesome effort and we thank you all for coming.

As you can see by the results there was a good mix of experienced guys and quite a few newer skippers who did a great job keeping up.

We gathered at the north end of the lake and used the rescue boat to put the club drop buoys in and set a shorter course more suited to the DF65

Unfortunately there were some tree effects early on that challenged the fleet at the top mark but for the most part everyone sailed very well.

By 2.30pm the winds had settled too close to the forecast and we had some great racing.

We thank the skippers that came from Harrington Waters, Champion Lakes, Albany, Wanderers, Perth clubs to enjoy the day.

It was awesome to see a new DF65 skipper in Peter Buchanan test his skills on a small boat that can be super twitchy compared to his graceful IOM.

We apologise for the results mix up, we had three drops in place on our Afleet which for club days works well because we share the PRO role.

This has changed some positions so again we apologise to those affected.

ALRS Interclub DF65 15Oct2022 Results

Thank you to Dave Woodcock and Ian Meiklejohn for the assistance to run today's event.

Our winner today was Peter Buchanan who sailed very well as expected and missed any scuffles behind him. In second place was Bruce Robbins, he was very courteous going around most of the traffic. In third place after the reworked spreadsheet was Mitch Benson who only just returned from Sydney. We apologise again to Ian Sherrriff for the mix up as he now becomes our fourth place getter.

Next event: ALRS skippers - DF65 handicap.

Next Interclub is the Wanderers DF95 Margaret River Winery lakes tour. 12th and 13th November. Hope you can come down and enjoy the experience.
