Radio Sailing on your own can be fun, but it is a whole lot more fun when you are part of a community! Western Australia currently has 8 active radio sailing clubs. There are 6 clubs in the Perth region and 2 in country areas of Albany and Busselton. Each club has its own character. Some clubs are very social and sailing is very relaxed. Other clubs have more of a racing focus, and the level of competition is very high.

We have worked hard to develop a terrific culture at our radio sailing clubs in WA. Some clubs enjoy more of a "Men's Shed" type of feel, with all the members contributing to the fun. Sailing is the activity which everyone has in common, and the aim of the club is to have fun. At other clubs, skippers have a goal to reach for racing success at National and International level. The atmosphere at all clubs is relaxed even though the competition can be fierce. The aim is to sail hard but fair. We all attempt to learn the rules of sailing and sail by them.

After sailing, most clubs have a time of fellowship. We take along our chairs and often a beer or wine. There is time for story telling, explaining what could have been, or just getting to know our club mates.

We hope that you can find a club that meets the type of sailing you enjoy.
